![]() the allotment HQ, shipton road, york January 23, 2007 Number 2 in series of images that remind me of my childhood Taken the other Sunday, on an early morning walk near my parents house I used to hate going to the allotment with my father. Really hate it. I feel terrible saying it though, but the thought of those Sunday afternoons, weeding between the raspberry canes. 'Come on kids, we're all going to the allotment'. Terrible... If I could do it now, I'd love to spend an afternoon with him. We'd dig a bit, have a Thermos of tea, make a bonfire and come home reeking of smoke. This 'shed' isn't actually on the site of where my father's allotment was; it's a bit further down the road. His allotement is now under someones back gardern as the whole lot has had a nice new estate built over the top of it. I got into trouble taking this too. An old Scottish bloke asked me whether I knew I was on private property, why I was taking a photo of the allotment headquarters and asked me to leave straight away, in no uncertain terms. Miserable git. I think he thought I was a terrorist. Holga CGFN + Fujifilm Superia 400 © James Arnold 2007 Comment (11) | Permalink |
